Kansas volleyball sweeps Colorado

Kansas University seniors Karina Garlington and Jenna Kaiser each recorded 12 kills, and the Jayhawks swept Colorado (25-19, 25-22, 25-23) Saturday at Horejsi Center.

The Jayhawks improved to 15-11 overall and 6-9 in the Big 12, while CU fell to 6-15 and 3-12.

KU sophomore Tayler Tolefree finished with a team-best .571 attack percentage to go along with a team-leading five blocks. She received help at the net from junior Allison Mayfield, who had a career-high five blocks. Mayfield also contributed eight digs.

Kansas freshman Brianne Riley collected seven of her match-high 18 digs in the second set. She helped limit the Buffaloes to a .114 attack percentage.

The Jayhawks trailed in the final set, 16-10, but battled back and saw the score tied at 23. Jenna Kaiser had a kill, then Caroline Jarmoc and Nicole Tate combined on a block for the winning point.

Kansas will take on Texas A&M at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in College Station, Texas.
