Arielle Bremby of Lawrence, a painting major at Boston University’s College of Fine Arts, is studying abroad through the BU International Programs office. Bremby is currently enrolled in the Venice Studio Arts Program through the end of the fall 2010 semester and plans to graduate from BU in 2012.

Douglas County Historical Society’s annual dinner and meeting will be Nov. 18 at the Watkins Community Museum, 1047 Mass. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. with a social hour. Dinner and formal meeting proceedings will begin at 7 p.m. Reservations must be received by Friday and can be made by calling 841-4109. Tickets for the dinner are $40 per person. An election of new officers and board members for the DCHS will be held. Katie Armitage, author of the new book, “Lawrence: Survivors of Quantrill’s Raid,” will be the speaker.

Kate Marden, Lawrence High School class of 1999, competed in the U.S. Marine Corps Marathon Oct. 31 in Washington, D.C.

Marden finished with a time of 3:10:16. She placed 35th out of 8,668 women and 379th overall out of 21,879 runners.
