Repairs slated for portions of East 19th Street; work possible because other street projects came in under budget

Portions of 19th Street are set to get some unexpected repairs from the city.

City commissioners at their meeting will consider approving more than $270,000 worth of repair work to parts of East 19th Street after other construction projects in the city cost less than expected.

At their Tuesday evening meeting, commissioners will consider approving:

• 221,830 in repairs to East 19th Street from Barker Avenue east to Almira Avenue. The work will include a complete mill and overlay of the street.

• $58,014 in repairs to East 19th Street from Massachusetts east to Barker Avenue. The work will include full depth patching and pavement repairs.

If approved Tuesday, the work likely would begin on Wednesday. The project is expected to take about four weeks to complete and will involve traffic delays. The project would involve the closure of single lanes, but also may occasionally involve closing parts of 19th Street to through traffic. Access to driveways along the street would remain open, city officials said.
