Wichita ? A former math teacher has willed nearly $7.5 million to Wichita State.

The Wichita Eagle reported that Doris Klose, who died in January, willed nearly $7.5 million to Wichita State to create scholarships for aspiring teachers. The donation will pay the tuition, fees and book costs for dozens of students in the college of education every year.

Elizabeth King, president and CEO of the WSU Foundation, said it’s the third-largest gift ever given to Wichita State.

Doris Klose taught math at Horace Mann Junior High School in the late 1940s. Her husband, Ralph Klose, was a former Wichita city treasurer and businessman who died in 2004. They both graduated from Wichita State.
