Kevin Yoder files for GOP primary in 3rd District race

May 21, 2010

— Kansas state Rep. Kevin Yoder has filed for the Republican nomination in the state’s 3rd Congressional District.

Yoder paid the nearly $1,500 filing fee in the secretary of state’s office Friday to guarantee a spot on the Aug. 3 primary ballot in the northeast Kansas district.

Yoder is from Overland Park and chairs the Kansas House Appropriations Committee.

Democrat Dennis Moore has represented the district since 1989 but decided against seeking a seventh term. His wife, Stephene (STEH-fuh-nee) Moore, is running for the Democratic nomination.

Yoder is the fifth Republican to file for the seat. The others include former state Rep. Patricia Lightner of Olathe.

Not sure I would vote for him, but he is a KU grad and a really good guy.

Really good guy? What planet are you from? Clearly, you didn't know the guy at KU. I'm sure his Lambda Chi Alpha brothers could tell you some stories that might change your opinion.

We were in SGA together. Rode the bus a ton together, became friends. I know him personally.

Yoder got his education from a state sponsored school, but he wants to make it impossible for others to do the same? What a hypocrite!

I think they mean since 1999 on Moore representing the district.

Since being elected to Congress in 1998, Moore has served his country and the constituents of the Third District of Kansas.

yep elected in November of 1998...the new Congress comes in the following year, which would be 1999.

He is the author of the "Yoder" budget which went down in flames this past legislative session. If he can't run with the lil' state boys, he sure can't run with the big dogs in DC.

wow, you vile libs have convinced me to vote FOR the guy. If you hate him so much, he must be a good person. Thanks.

Sick Beo. Do you really like what it describes? Why so infatuated with TB?
