AIDS Project starting ‘buddy’ program

Agency: Douglas County AIDS Project

The Douglas County AIDS Project is launching a new volunteer program. DCAP is recruiting adults to serve as “buddies” for its clients. A buddy is a specially trained companion volunteer who works one-on-one with a specific client. The buddy will be a social contact, a listener and an advocate, as well as someone who helps with the tasks of everyday life. Buddies commit to serving one year, and would generally be called upon two to four times a month to help out in various capacities, both functional and social. For more information, contact DCAP at dcapcm@sunflower.com or 843-0040.
