Stolen vehicle found along Kansas River
Douglas County sheriff’s deputies recovered a stolen vehicle Friday near the banks of the Kansas River north of Lecompton.
Undersheriff Steve Hornberger said the sheriff’s department received a call about an abandoned vehicle near the river.
Sheriff’s deputies and Lawrence police officers responded to the scene and determined the car, a Chevrolet Malibu, had been stolen in Lawrence on Thursday morning.
Deputies recovered the vehicle, which was stuck in the mud.
Officers were processing the car for evidence.
