Jayhawks put 36 on academic track team

Thirty-six Kansas University athletes were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Teams.

Among those honored, two first-teamers (Eric Fattig and Jareb Stallbaumer) had 4.0 grade-point averages.

Twelve KU women were on the first team: seniors Lauren Bonds, Kelsey Erb, Elizabeth Beisner, Claire Hall, Mary Lacy and Amanda Radovich; juniors Abby Jones and Amanda Miller; sophomores Julia Cummings and Rebeka Stowe; and freshmen Lindsay Schaefer and Elise Umbarger.

On the men’s side, 15 Jayhawks earned a spot on the first team. Seniors Levi Huseman, Chandler Frigon and Nate Scherzer; juniors Cooper Merrill, Jordan Scott and Dan Van Orsdel; sophomores Ebo Browne, Nick Canton, Kaleb Humphreys, Clint Robinson, Kaman Schneider and Darryl Trotter; and freshmen Austin Bussing, Sean Proehl and Zach Zarda.

KU’s second-team picks: seniors Kate Colvin, Lacey Cunningham and Ryan Hays; juniors Kendra Bradley, Kara Windisch and Nick Caprario; and freshman Josh Baden.
