100 years ago: State officials studying cattle illness

From the Lawrence Daily World for May 11, 1910: “The U.S. Battleship Florida, the largest gunship in the world, was launched in the Brooklyn Navy Yard this morning. Great throngs gathered to see the ceremony for the large, strong weapon. … More state officials have come to town to study the tuberculosis infestation of cattle and it would appear many more animals will have to be put down.”
