White House: Pakistan Taliban behind bomb

May 10, 2010

— Saying they obtained new evidence, senior White House officials said Sunday that the Pakistani Taliban were behind the failed Times Square bombing.

The attempt marks the first time the group has been able to launch an attack on U.S. soil. And while U.S. officials have downplayed the threat — citing the bomb’s lack of sophistication — the incident in Times Square and Christmas Day airline bomber indicate growing strength by overseas terrorist groups linked to al-Qaida even as the CIA says their operations are seriously degraded.

The finding also raises new questions about the U.S. relationship with Pakistan, which is widely known to have al-Qaida and other terrorist groups operating within its borders.

Poser and his 'Right Hand' Islamic 'Point Man' will 'Say' and 'Do' anything to get votes in November.

The 'Arabic' name Poser is a cagey character. There is more to him than Harry Reids's 'Description' of him.

We gotta defend murica from them thar teorrorists!!

We must have changed to code yellow while I wasn't looking.

Also, I expect to see hippies on the corner of 23rd and Louisiana protesting the racist war against the brown people of Afghanistan for a gas line within the week. Come on hippies, don't you remember how patriotic it is to dissent? Don't you want to protest our use of unmanned drones to indiscriminately kill brown people in Pakistan too? Poor goat farmers. One minute lovingly tending the herd, the next blown to bits by imperialist USA.

One Two Three Four... you gotta go out and protest more!

The wheels of the bus go round and round. “Attorney General Eric Holder tells Jake Tapper this morning that alleged Times Square bombing screwup Faisal Shahzad was facilitated, financed and working under the direction of the Pakistani Taliban. While that clears some things up, remember that there is still a middle-aged Tea Party supporter stalking the Nutmeg State, who is angry about the housing crisis and the health care bill, with his U.S. citizenship still in good standing, and probably linking up with our home-grown militias for more one-off attacks. OK, so I'm the millionth person to make that joke in the last week. But it's more than a joke because not all the people making those wildly wrong claims about Shahzad's background and motivation were pundits or minor potentates like New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. The "one-off" attack line came from the highest official in the American government charged with preventing attacks exactly like Shahzad's: Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano. Napolitano's rhetorical slip is a little too serious to be palmed off with some linguistic woolgathering. She has made clear repeatedly that she believes people with Gadsden flag bumper stickers are a greater threat to domestic tranquility than out-of-the-closet terrorists who receive training and material assistance in foreign terror centers. She has been wrong about this every time, and she will continue to be wrong until Americans actually die. This is an obvious politicization of her office. (Napolitano's favored targets -- health care protesters and disgruntled veterans -- are distinguished not by their propensity toward violence but by their opposition to the administration.) But if you believe in the necessity of a Homeland Security Department, every day Napolitano is in charge of it creates an actual risk to life and property. Napolitano has a positive burden of proof: She needs to demonstrate some understanding of how to do her job, or she needs to be fired, for the security of the United States and the safety of the American people.”
