Forty-nine anti-apartheid demonstrators were arrested after taking their protest to the KU Endowment Association and the office of Chancellor Gene Budig.

Business at Culture Farms Inc., Lawrence, was booming — necessitating a move to larger quarters, a Lawrence man said at a hearing in Topeka. Culture Farms was receiving an average of 200,000 bacterial cultures a day, compared with 2,000 in late January, said John Stanwix, who was employed in a lab affiliated with Culture Farms.
