Severe thunderstorm watch canceled for Douglas County

Douglas County is still under a severe thunderstorm watch.

The National Weather Service canceled the severe thunderstorm watch for Douglas County.

9 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Douglas County and some surrounding counties until 5 a.m. Friday morning. Franklin, Jefferson, Johnson and Leavenworth counties are all included in the watch.

A few thunderstorms could develop over the area that may be capable of producing damaging hail and tornadoes.

Additional storms are expected to move through northern central Kansas in the overnight hours that are also capable of producing damaging hail and wind as they move east, according to the NWS.
