LHS senior headlines KU rowing class

Lawrence High senior Jasmyn Turner headlines a list of 18 additions to the Kansas University rowing team, announced by coach Rob Catloth on Thursday.

Of the 18, 15 are from Kansas, with two coming from Missouri and one from Virginia.

While at LHS, Turner was a three-sport standout in volleyball, basketball and softball. She lettered in all three sports for three years and was a second-team all-Sunflower League selection in both volleyball and basketball as a senior.

Joining Turner in the Class of 2010-11 are: Maddie Alexander (Blue Valley Northwest), Callie Davis (Olathe South), Caitlyn Decker (St. Mary’s Colgan High), Meg Demuri (Buffalo (Mo.) High), Marie Fesen (Trinity High), Kelsie Fiss (St. Teresa’s Academy), Brittny Harms (Ottawa High), Katie Hayes (St. Mary’s Colgan High), Courtney Holmes (Maize High), Abby Horton (Blue Valley Northwest), Amanda Lewis (Silver Lake High), Abbey Lozenski (Lansing High), Cara Murray (SM West), Rachel Newby (Lake Braddock, Va.), Hannah Singhal (SM Northwest), Bailey Stallbaumer (Andover Central) and Sara Waterson (Bishop Carroll High).

“We feel like we have an outstanding group of incoming student-athletes for fall 2010,” Catloth said. “This group of recruits has strong athletic backgrounds that will benefit the rowing program at Kansas and contribute to the continued success of our program.”
