A “person of interest” was arrested Wednesday in connection with a series of rapes in Kansas City, Mo.

Authorities believe the suspect is responsible for five sexual assaults during a five-month period in the Waldo area of southern Kansas City.

In each instance the attacker broke into a house at night and raped a woman living alone.

Lawrence police said the rapes in Waldo do not appear to be connected to a string of rapes in Lawrence during the past several years. The last rape in Lawrence occurred during the 2008 Thanksgiving break.
