Poet’s Showcase: ‘An Ode to Trees’

Bare branches — virgin buds — greening leaves …
Those that blossom
always please.
Trees bless in many ways —
Inspiring us to sing their praise.

All it takes is fertile seed —
A lesson we’d do well to heed.
Grow where you’re planted, they like to say.
Strongly rooted we face each day.

So take a moment to contemplate,
Or hug a tree! It’s never too late
To seek the utmost inspiration
From this display of transformation.

… “Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.”
