Eisenhower’s niece to visit Lecompton

Today, Kaye Eisenhower Morgan, the niece of President Dwight Eisenhower, is planning to visit Lecompton, the town where her grandparents were married in 1885.

On Saturday, Morgan was at the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum in Abilene talking about her new book, “The Eisenhower Legacy: A Tribute to Ida Stover Eisenhower and David Jacob Eisenhower.”

Paul Bahnmaier, president of Lecompton Historical Society, said Morgan plans to visit the Territorial Capital Museum at 1 p.m. today. On June 26, Ida and David Eisenhower’s wedding will be re-enacted as part of Territorial Days in Lecompton. The year marks the 125th anniversary of their wedding.
