March 31, 2010

Kansas University Athletics Director Lew Perkins is scheduled to appear at the Dole Institute of Politics in April.

He will give an interview relating to his decades-long career in sports administration at 7:30 p.m. April 13 at the Dole Institute.

He is the third person to speak in the institute’s Leadership and Globalization in Sports series, which examines the economic, social and political impact of sports throughout the world. Former National Football League commissioner Paul Tagliabue spoke in November 2008, and international mountain guide Robert Link in November 2009.

Perkins has served as KU’s athletics director since June 2003, when he came to the school from the University of Connecticut.

The event is free and open to the public.

And for an extra $1.8 million he'll throw in a couple of official KU hats.

Perhaps the $169,000 Lew gets from the taxpayer out of his 4.4 million salary he will donate to the state! That would show leadership!

Perkins....speaking on leadership? Now that is a joke!! What leadership has he shown since being at KU.......ticket investigation, Mangino/football team mess, NCAA compliance issues? He is not a leader and does not have any leaderhip skills.....except how to make out like a bandit for himself. Its time for him to go!!

He can tell you how to mismanage firing a successful football coach and how to promise Club Seats for the stadium as you make that announcement.

Also for years and years, the main recruiting effort for the Marching Jayhawks has been tickets to the basketball games. He tried to take that away this year (after the school year began) and I bet will get it done next year.

How much will he be paid to give this speech? I'm guessing nothing is done for free by Mr. Perkins.

Does anyone have a copy of his speech to post?
