The city’s annual wood chip sale is set for this weekend.

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department will sell wood chips and mulch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday. The sale will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The event will take place at the department’s forestry division facility, 1420 E. 11th St.

The wood chips will be sold for $10 per pickup load. Patrons are asked to bring a tarp to cover their loads upon leaving.

The wood chips are created from fallen trees and limbs that city crews collect throughout the year. The wood chips often can be helpful in retaining moisture and preventing run-off in yards and gardens.
