KU faculty members were circulating a petition in support of Profs. Lawrence Velvel and Fred Litto who had had their promotions “frozen” pending a probe into their alleged roles in campus demonstrations.

Robert Hagen of Lawrence was renamed by Gov. Bob Docking to the Kansas Highway Commission.

The Lawrence High Class of 1970 was to wear scarlet caps and gowns for graduation instead of the traditional pale grey. The move was voted by students.
