National Guard Bureau chief to speak in state

— The top uniformed officer in the National Guard is in Kansas to tour a new training center and visit with state military officials.

Gen. Craig McKinley is chief of the National Guard Bureau.

McKinley was scheduled Friday to tour the Great Plains Joint Training Center in Salina. The center includes the Smoky Hill Weapons Range and Crisis City, where emergency responders train for various situations.

Today, McKinley will address the Joint State Conference in Wichita.

The three-day conference includes speakers, workshops and social events involving the National Guard Association of Kansas and affiliated groups.
