The presidents of two Lawrence branches of postal worker unions agreed that no walkouts would occur here unless national union officers called for such action and local emplyees voted for a strike in sympathy with tieups elsewhere in the country.

William P. Gaut, industrial and business development manager of the Evansville, Ind., chamber of commerce, was named new secretary-manager for the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce. He was 30 and succeeded Keith Winter who had left here for an Amarillo, Texas, position.
