100 years ago: Plans for Mass St. temple moving forward

From the Lawrence Daily World for March 22, 1910: “The Masonic Temple building committee has definitely decided on plans for a new temple to be built along the architectural lines of the ancient Egyptian Temple ‘Elephantine’ and will be arranged to provide for every convenience for the Masons in all bodies and rites. The building will be on the foundation of the old Methodist Church on Massachusetts Street and will be started this week. It will be of fireproof construction. No cost figures are listed. The ceiling in the main large room will be 25 feet high…”
