100 years ago: Local music lovers treated to symphony

From the Lawrence Daily World for March 18, 1910: “Music lovers of Lawrence will be treated to a concert by the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra at the festival here April 21 and 22. The orchestra is conducted by the Great Oberhoffer. …The regents of the university have formally outlawed the TNE fraternity or any group with similar activities and goals which include carousing and drinking. The action was taken after, several weeks ago, a troublesome effort was made at a drunken dance to revive TNE.”
