Royals tie with Seattle

? Chone Figgins and Ken Griffey Jr. are finally on the board.

Figgins ended his spring slump with two hits, including a two-run triple during Seattle’s four-run fifth inning, and the Mariners tied the Kansas City Royals, 6-6, on Friday.

Figgins, who signed a free-agent deal with Seattle over the winter, was 0-for-11 this spring.

“Now I feel like I’m part of the team,” he said.

The game ended after nine innings by mutual agreement after the Royals used all their available pitchers.

Griffey also had his first two hits of spring training for Seattle, a one-hop double off the center-field wall in the fourth and a bloop RBI single that drove in Figgins in the fifth. Griffey also had a sacrifice fly in the first.

Jose Guillen, Mike Aviles and Brayan Pena each had two hits for Kansas City.
