Friday’s KU softball game washed

The Kansas University softball team’s second home game of the season — set for 2 p.m. today vs. Valparaiso — has been canceled because of rain.

Rainy weather conditions altered the schedule for the KU Invitational before it even began. KU was scheduled to play two games on Thursday but managed just one, a 6-5 victory over Valparaiso.

Saturday’s schedule calls for three games of the round-robin event, as Valpo and Missouri State are scheduled to kick things off at 11 a.m., followed by KU vs. Valpo at 1 p.m. and KU vs. Missouri State at 3 p.m.

Thursday’s victory improved Kansas to 10-10 on the season and marked the seventh straight home-opening victory at Arrocha Ballpark.
