A 19-year-old Shawnee woman was arrested early Thursday on charges of aggravated battery after a fight at the 23rd Street Roadhouse, 1003 E. 23rd St.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Susan Hadl, the suspect reportedly struck a 21-year-old female acquaintance in the head with a beer bottle after a verbal disagreement escalated. One of the victim’s friends helped fend off the suspect after the battery.

The victim suffered a head injury but declined medical treatment. The suspect was arrested on aggravated battery charges because the beer bottle was considered a weapon.

The woman was arrested at 12:21 a.m.
