Former senator speaking at Dole

Former U.S. Sen. Jack Danforth, R-Mo., is scheduled to speak tonight at the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics.

Danforth served from 1976 to 1995 and was a close political ally to Dole, having nominated him to his first term as majority leader in 1985.

The discussion, which will begin at 5:30 p.m., is scheduled to include Dole’s interaction with senators and the style that led him to be selected as leader by his colleagues more than any other Republican in history.

It is part of an ongoing series at the Dole Institute, “Bob Dole: 50 Years of Leadership & Bipartisanship.”
