Busch wins in Atlanta

? Kurt Busch won again at Atlanta Motor Speedway, pulling away on a second restart Sunday after a couple of wild wrecks to capture the Kobalt Tools 500.

Busch won the spring race at the 1.54-mile trioval for the second year in a row, beating Matt Kenseth to the line by nearly half a second. Juan Pablo Montoya was third, followed by Kasey Kahne and Paul Menard.

The race went 16 laps past its scheduled 325 because of two big crashes.

Monterrey, Mexico — Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia defeated Slovakia’s Daniela Hantuchova, 1-6, 6-1, 6-0, for her first WTA title at the Monterrey Open on Sunday.

Jaguars sign Kampman

Jacksonville, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars signed free agent Aaron Kampman as a step toward solving their pass-rushing woes.

The two-time Pro Bowl defensive end, who spent eight seasons with Green Bay, signed with the Jaguars on Sunday.

He should boost a pass rush that ranked last in the NFL with a franchise-low 14 sacks. The sack total was the fifth-lowest in NFL history.

NFL suspends Ferguson

Miami — The NFL has suspended Jason Ferguson for the first eight games of next season for violating league policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Ferguson is a free agent who sat out the latter part of last season with the Miami Dolphins due to a quadriceps injury and underwent surgery in December.

Cleveland — The Cleveland Browns signed linebacker Scott Fujita and offensive lineman Tony Pashos, both unrestricted free agents, to multiyear contracts on Sunday.

Martin to miss opening day

Glendale, Ariz. — Dodgers catcher Russell Martin is expected to miss opening day after an MRI revealed a pulled groin.

Martin first felt discomfort during a running drill a few days before the Dodgers’ first spring game Friday. He started Friday’s game against the White Sox and played five innings, even stealing a base.

UConn wins 70th straight

Hartford, Conn. — Connecticut won its 70th consecutive game, routing Syracuse, 77-41, in the Big East quarterfinals on Sunday to tie its own record for the longest winning streak in women’s college basketball.

The Huskies’ winning streak tied one the program set from Nov. 9, 2001, to March 11, 2003, when it lost in the Big East semifinals to Villanova.

Villegas dominates Honda

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. — Camilo Villegas’ week started with one celebration, then ended with another.

Villegas shot a final-round 68 to win the Honda Classic by five shots Sunday over Anthony Kim, giving the Colombian his third PGA Tour victory.

He finished at 13-under 267, the lowest 72-hole score since the Honda moved to PGA National in 2007, four shots better than Y.E. Yang’s winning total a year ago.

Couples tops at Toshiba

Newport Beach, Calif. — Fred Couples won his second straight Champions Tour title, shooting a 6-under 65 for a four-stroke victory Sunday in the Toshiba Classic.

Couples, making his third start on the 50-and-over tour, had an 18-under 195 total on the Newport Beach Country Club course.

Pate prevails at Bogota

Bogota, Colombia — Steve Pate became the oldest champion in Nationwide Tour history, winning the Bogota Open on Sunday when Aaron Watkins missed a three-foot par putt on the second playoff hole.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — South Korean teenager Noh Seung-yul birdied the final hole to win the Malaysian Open by one shot over countryman K.J. Choi on Sunday.

Gold Coast, Australia — Karrie Webb won her seventh Australian Ladies Masters title Sunday, closing with a course-record 11-under 61 for a six-stroke victory.
