Area Roundup: Baldwin, Perry-Lecompton win

Eudora, De Soto, Tonganoxie fall

The Tonganoxie girls basketball team lost in the first round of the playoffs to Royal Valley.

Baldwin 53, De Soto 27

Baldwin City — Rami Burkhark scored 12 points, and strong second and third quarters helped the Baldwin High girls basketball team to a first-round victory in the Class 4A sub-state tournament Monday.

Baldwin went on runs of 15-5 and 16-4 in the second and third quarters.

Katie Gorman led De Soto with 11 points.

Baldwin will play again Thursday at Basehor-Linwood.

Perry-Lecompton 59, Atchison 30

Perry — Abbey Bays scored 14 points to lead Perry-Lecompton past Atchison in the first round of sub-state.

Perry-Lecompton (11-10) will face Royal Valley on Thursday at Hoyt.

St. James 46, Eudora 36

Lenexa — Evan Folks scored 14 points, but Eudora lost in the first round of sub-state.

Eudora finished the season 5-16.

Royal Valley 62, Tonganoxie 50

Hoyt — Andie Jeannin scored 16 points to lead the Chieftains. Tonganoxie finished the season 6-15.
