— A state legislator who's running for Congress in northeast Kansas says an ethics complaint filed against him has been dropped.

Republican state Sen. Dennis Pyle said Monday he received that word from the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission. The commission's executive director, Carol Williams, said she was barred by state law from commenting.

Pyle, of Hiawatha, is challenging incumbent U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins for the Republican nomination in the 2nd Congressional District.

The ethics complaint was filed by a GOP activist alleging Pyle improperly used funds from his state Senate campaign to travel to Washington last year for talks with consultants on a possible run for Congress.

Pyle has denied any wrongdoing and says the action by the ethics commission clears him.

I hear Lynn Jenkins is going to run for President in 2012, so we the people of the 2nd district would probably be better off with Denny Pyle. He'd be able to focus on Kansas' interests more because he won't be busy campaigning in other states.

Obviously, either one will be better than whoever the godless, baby-murdering democrats nominate to run. If the race was between a democrat and a squirrel, I'd have to vote for the squirrel.
