The Tonganoxie Community Band will have its annual concert, with the serving of hot dogs and hamburgers kicking off festivities at 6 p.m. Tuesday at VFW Park, 910 E. First St., Tonganoxie.

The concert, under the direction of Tonganoxie High School band director Charles Van Middlesworth, will start at 7 p.m. The concert will feature patriotic music, movie scores and a George Gershwin piece. There also will be audience participation with a name-that-tune of movie theme songs.

Proceeds from the barbecue will go toward the Tonganoxie school district’s music department booster club.

People attending the concert should bring their own lawn chairs.
