Mark Woodward resigned Tuesday from his position as Chief Executive Officer of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, the Lawrence-based organization announced.

Woodward had been appointed to the position in April, 2008.

Rhett Evans, the GCSAA’s chief operating officer, has been named interim CEO while the board of directors conducts a nationwide search to replace Woodward.

The release said Woodward resigned to “pursue other career interests.”
