Downtown arts district receives $10,000
A request to transfer $10,000 from the city’s Cultural Arts Commission to a new downtown arts district won approval from city commissioners Tuesday.
As part of their consent agenda, commissioners unanimously approved the request.
The new Downtown Lawrence Arts District plans to create special art events on the last Friday of every month. The first one is slated for Aug. 27.
The $10,000 will be used to help market the events during their first year.
