Cactus advance to semis in Emporia

? The Lawrence Cactus advanced to the semifinals of the Sam Ellis Memorial Tournament by defeating the Kansas City Blaze, 11-1, on Saturday.

The game ended in the fourth inning because of the 10-run rule.

Cactus starting pitcher Ryan Scott allowed one unearned run off two hits in the four innings.

Four of the Cactus’ seven hits were extra bases. Ryan Morris hit a two-run home run, his second of the tournament.

Preston Schenck, Tanner Kilmer and Taylor Gentry all hit doubles.

Morris and Genrty recorded two RBIs, while Schenck, Kilmer, Tim Lewis, Adam Petz, Coulter Vestal and Cody Oller each had an RBI.

The Cactus went 3-0 in pool play and now will play in the semifinals at 2 p.m. today.
