University Bridge Club announces results of its June 5 meeting, with hosts Tom and Cathy Waller, and Marc and Cora Kuepker.

Blue winners were Steven Bogler, first; Paul Jordan, second; Bonnie Haney, third; John Golden, fourth; and Julie Zajic, fifth.

Pink winners were Marty Hartman, first; Janet Dunn, second; Dottie Miller, third; Myrna Ikenberry, fourth; and Jane Golden, fifth.

Members of Amateur Radio Emergency Service, Douglas County ham radio operators provided radio communication support for the Ironman 70.3 on June 6 at Clinton Lake Park. The Ham radio operators provided critical support for command office, aid stations, road assistance, and Emergency Medical Services personnel.

Along with the use of radio repeater system, hams used Automatic Packet Reporting System to provide tactical location information of EMS and supporting teams to the event command station. The equipment displayed near-real-time locations on a computer map for command and control operations. During the event more than 20 emergency related calls were supported by the hams.

The Wednesday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on June 2 was directed by Chris Lane. North-South winners were Steven Vossler and Vince Nordberg, first in A; Grant Sutton and Catherine Blumenfeld, second in A and first in B; Ann Thompson and Dick Shaffer, third in A, second in B, and first in C; and Wanna Roszel and Bebe Huxtable, fourth in A.

East-West winners were Klee Zaricky and John Oxley, first in A; David Piro and Paul Heitzman, second in A; Marilyn Martin and Clarice Broz, third in A, first in B and C; and Jack Flickinger and Jean Khatib, fourth in A and second in B.

The Thursday Morning Duplicate Mentor Bridge Club’s game on June 3 was directed by Lester Dalton. Winners were Florine Creek and Hope Freund, first; Angie Davidson and Virginia Seaver, second; Jean Khatib and Lester Dalton, third; and Eldon Herd and Bob Hemenway tied in fourth with Barbara Haverty and Barbara McCorkle.

The Friday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on June 4 was directed by Chris Lane. North-South winners were Jean Otney and Janice Hollowell, first in A and B; Lester Dalton and Mary Fenlon, second in A; Ed Howard and Kent McCullough, third in A; Chris Lane and Yvonne Hedges, fourth in A and second in B; Betty Collier and Shirley Reese, third in B; and Vince Nordberg and Jim Stewart, first in C.

East-West winners were Dee Scott and Bill Remington, first in A and B; John Fittell and Bobby Patton, second in A and B, and first in C; Lois Clark and Catherine Blumenfeld, third in A and B; Deborah Fair and Polly Schoning, fourth in A; Madelyn Jenks and Mona Bell, fourth in B; and Jan O’Connor and Ann Thompson, second in C.

The 24th World Wide Bridge Contest was on June 4. Local contestants competed with pre-dealt hands and the game was directed by Chris Lane and utilized the Howell movement. Winners were Peter Petillo and Brian Barrett, first in A; Polly Schoning and Deborah Fair, second in A; Virginia Seaver and Paul Heitzman, third in A; Eldon Herd and John Rempel, fourth in A; and Don Bush and Grant Sutton tied for first in B with Bobby Patton and Eleanor Patton.

The Monday Evening Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on June 7 was directed by Virginia Seaver. North-South winners were Vince Nordberg and Lester Dalton, first in A and B; Julia Dalton and Mary Fenlon, second in A; Larry Weatherholt and Robert Olson, third in A; and Emily Foster and Jim Stewart, first in B.

East-West winners were Peter Petillo and Brian Barrett, first in A; Eldon Herd and Jerry Sloan, second in A; James Masilamani and Paul Heitzman, third in A; and Adelaide Nyquist and John Fittell, first in B.
