Youth Football Camps: The Lawrence Youth Football Camp, put on by coaches and players from both Lawrence High and Free State, will be June 28-July 1 for players entering grades 3-8. It will run 8:30 a.m. to noon. Free State Youth Football Camp for linemen will be June 22-24, with the camp for quarterbacks, wide receivers and defensive backs July 6-8. Both sessions will run 9:30-11:30 a.m. Registration forms for the LHS and FSHS camps are at city elementary and junior high schools. LHS Boys Basketball Camp: Dates for the 2010 Lawrence High boys basketball summer camps have been set. Basketball camps for grades 3-5 and 6-8 will be held July 6-9. High school summer basketball workouts will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from June 7-July 14 and are open to boys entering grades 9-12. Free State Volleyball Camp: The Free State volleyball camp will run from June 28-July 2 for ninth- to 12th-grade students. Camp for eighth-graders and younger and below will run from July 19-July 23. Track Club Meetings: The Lawrence Youth Track Club meets 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at South Junior High. The club, for youths age 8-18, runs through July. Scholarships are available.

Mead Hole-In-One: Chuck Mead used a pitching wedge to fire a hole-in-one on the 110-yard No. 2 hole at the Orchards. Witnesses were Art Frye, Dick Schiefelbusch and Al Gallup.

Magnuson Hole-In-One: Eric Magnuson used a 6-iron to record a hole-in-one on the 175-yard No. 2 hole at Lawrence Country Club. Daniel Brumley and Jon Zylstra witnessed the shot.

Brown Hole-In-One: Bob Brown used an 8-iron to shoot a hole-in-one on the 145-yard No. 11 hole at Alvamar Country Club. Witnesses were Dick Logan, Al Jackson, George Bocquin and Jon Beougher.

Postoak Hole-In-One: Wayne Postoak used an 8-iron to record a hole-in-one on the 152-yard No. 11 hole at Alvamar Country Club on Saturday. Witnesses were Vicki Friend, Ross Cummins and Bill Westerbeak.

Haggard Hole-In-One: Lynell Haggard used an 8-iron to shoot a hole-in-one on the 90-yard No. 2 hole at Alvamar Country Club on Saturday. Witness was Jon Haggard.

Jayhawk Winners: Tyler Cummins shot 70 to win the scratch portion of the Jayhawk Golf Club’s White Tee Day on Sunday at Alvamar Public. He was followed by Conrad Roberts (70), Van Reichert (72) and Les Brown (73). Pete Whitenight won net with 67 and was followed by Mike Beaton (67), Curt Anderson (68) and Drew Walters (70).

Phenix Gold Winners: Lawrence Phenix-Fyler went 4-1-1 and won the second-tier Gold Division 18U title over the weekend at the College World Series Tournament in Oklahoma City. Lauren Massey went 3-0 and pitched 17 innings, and Allison New was 1-0 over 14 innings. Offensively for the weekend, Kristen Bell was 9-for-18, Megan Wright was 7-for-14, Massey was 8-for-17, Dana Kramer was 8-for-18 and Jamie Jarrett was 6-for-15 with three extra-base hits. Other team members: Danielle Booher, Amber Cessarich, Allison Coy, Sarah Hanson, Jamie Morgison, Mercedes Overstreet, Brianna Ploude and Taylor Simmons. Coaches are Randy Fyler and Steve Seratte.
