Letter to editor lends insight to thinking of Obama’s nominee for U.S. Attorney in Kansas

June 9, 2010

— While Barry Grissom awaits confirmation as U.S. attorney for Kansas, recently released documents offer clues to his thinking on civic and legal issues.

In a 1995 letter to The Kansas City Star, Grissom urged conservative talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh to be responsible in practicing their craft. He wrote that their programs foster the intolerance, disrespect and hatred that he said led to the Oklahoma City bombing.

Grissom is a Democrat from Overland Park. President Barack Obama nominated him in April to become the top federal prosecutor in Kansas.

The Senate Judiciary Committee has not yet scheduled a hearing on his confirmation.

You will be responsible and if you are not we know where your relatives live.

Mister Grissom is obviously well read and familiar with limbaugh's vile and vicious pronouncements. I couldn't agree more with him, however I think he falied to correctly identify this scumbag. Limbaugh is a spokesman for the klan, the michigan militia and their ilk and the american (sic) nazi party. Look up your history. Study the pronouncements of Dr Joseph Goebbels. Learn about limbaugh and the ditto head regime.

Beo-ever wonder if you are not the nut? I wasnt a big fan of Bush but I had the descernment to realize the media was trying to destroy him.Given a little research you could find the slant and lies about him. As far as Rush, i am not faithful listener but I have never heard him say the things the libs say.

I do not see a problem suggesting that as someone enjoys the freedoms we have in the US, that we also think about the responsibility that comes with it and think about how we use it.

Isn't it a conservative value that we each be responsible for ourselves and accept responsibility for our actions?

Or does that NOT apply so Rush?

Sounds to me like we could have some First Amendment/censorship issues to deal with soon. Just another step in the indoctrination.

If, I repeat, If you had ever listened to him you would know he lives by the rule of accepting responsibility for what you do. Maybe you and Grissom both should listen to him, find out what he really says while it's in context, and get your facts straight instead of listening to the spin.

You seem not to realize that what he says and what he does are 2 very different things, do you not?

"he lives by the rule of accepting responsibility for what you do."

He's a demagogue. He creates and whips up anxieties in his audience through a mixture of distortion, exaggeration and outright lies.

Please tell me in what ways he's "accepting responsibility" for that. And does "accepting responsibility" mean that he'll cease doing so.

Or is he like the Mafia Don who orders robberies and murders 6 days a week, and then confesses and receives absolution on the seventh?
