Lawrence police are searching for a man after spotting him in a stolen vehicle late Thursday night.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Susan Hadl, a police officer spotted a truck reported stolen Thursday parked and empty on the south side of Motel 6, 1130 North Third Street. As the officer waited for backup, a man got into the truck and drove away.

The officer pursued the man and attempted to pull it over on North Third Street at 11:58 p.m. The driver failed to stop and turned east on Lyon Street. In the 700 block of Lyon, the man stopped the vehicle and got out.

Hadl said officers combed the area, but he could not be located. He was described as a white male with a bald head wearing a camouflage shirt and blue athletic shorts. Anyone with information on the man can call 843-TIPS.
