Kansas National Guard to celebrate anniversary of WWII’s end in Europe with day of events Saturday

Displays and re-enactments are on tap as the Museum of the Kansas National Guard remembers the end of World War II in Europe.

The events are part of the Heartland Military Day planned Saturday at the museum south of Topeka.

Displays will be in place by 9 a.m., with re-enactments beginning at 10:30 a.m. featuring American and German troops. The displays will include a variety of vehicles, equipment, weapons and uniforms used during the war.

Lt. Col. Roger Aeschliman will give a presentation portraying Lt. Gen. George S. Patton, describing the fighting during World War II.

The museum’s indoor and outdoor exhibits will be available for viewing.
