— An e-mail sent by the president of Ohio State to the commissioner of the Big Ten hints that the conference is pursuing Texas as part of its expansion plans.

Ohio State President Gordon Gee told Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany in an April 20 e-mail that Gee had spoken with University of Texas president Bill Powers.

In the e-mail obtained by The Associated Press, Gee writes that Powers would welcome a call to say they have a "Tech" problem.

It's not clear what that means, but Texas Tech is one of Texas' rivals in the Big 12 conference.

In another e-mail, Gee told the Big Ten commissioner that the conference controls its own destiny, but must move swiftly.

The e-mails were first reported by The Columbus Dispatch.

I am still of the belief a weakened Big 12 would pickoff top Conference USA or Mountain West teams just for BCS reasons, not the other way around.

Conference USA here we come! At least the football program should be more competitive.

I don't think KU would sacrafice itself for the good of KSU. I've read that Texas will not be allowed to leave TT or aTm to fend for themselves. It's been speculated the same would happen to Kansas. "If you want Kansas, you gotta take little brother."

Whoa is Kansas. Left alone in the Big 4 conference because of being afraid to leave KSU. KSU, like an anchor around our neck.

Texas to the Big 10 makes much for sense for the Longhorns then the Pac 10.
