Washburn seeking 3% tuition increase

? Washburn University’s tentative budget for the next fiscal year includes a 3 percent increase in tuition, or an average of $72 more per year.

Washburn President Jerry Farley says students will pay $207 per credit hour next school year, up from $201 this academic year.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that Washburn has a projected enrollment of just under 7,000 students for next year.

Farley says the 3 percent tuition increase will bring about $900,000 to Washburn for the next school year.
