Cactus go 1-1 in World Series pool play

? Lawrence’s Cactus rebounded from a lopsided opening loss to edge the Topeka Capitals in the second game of the Hap Dumont NBC 18U World Series on Friday.

The Cactus, 1-1 in pool play, earned the No. 2 seed in their four-team bracket. The tournament will continue today.

In a 12-2 loss to defending champion Arvada (Colo.) Playball Academy on Friday, Ryan Scott, Colin Toalson, Tim Lewis, Tanner Kilmer and Taylor Gentry each had a hit. Gentry’s was a triple. Scott doubled.

In Lawrence’s 5-4 victory over the Capitals, Toalson was 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Lewis, Gentry and Cory Delg each contributed a hit. Lewis tripled; Delg doubled.
