Henrickson tourney: The sixth annual Bonnie Henrickson Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Aug. 21 at Alvamar Golf and Country Club. The four-person scramble tees off at 1 p.m. The $100 entry fee includes green fee, cart, range balls, goodie bag, drinks, lunch and dinner. Youth Football Camp: A football camp for youths entering the second through sixth grades will be held today through Saturday. No pads or helmets will be used, and there will be no contact during the camp, which will be held at Haskell Indian Nations University. Free State Softball Camp: Free State High will host a softball camp for five weeks of Sundays beginning Aug. 22. The camp is for girls in grades 4 through 8. For information, contact FSHS coach Lee Ice at ice@sunflower.com.

Softball tryouts: Lawrence Phenix Fastpitch will hold tryouts for the upcoming season. Tryouts are Aug. 7 at Holcom Park. Times: 8:30-10 a.m. for first- and second-year 10U; 10-11:30 for first-year 12U; and 11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. for first-year 14U. Older-group tryouts will be held Aug. 8 at Holcom, from 1:30-3 p.m. for first- and second-year 16U and 3-4:30 for 18-U. Please register 30 minutes before tryout. Chalmers mixer today: The Oread hotel is holding a VIP Mixer with Mario Chalmers and members of the ’08 KU National Championship team from 6-9 p.m. today. Limited tickets are available for $25, with proceeds going to the Mario V. Chalmers Foundation. Many team members are expected be together for the first time since the championship, including Chalmers, Brandon Rush, Russell Robinson, Darnell Jackson, Darrell Arthur, Jeremy Case, Matt Kleinmann, Tyrel Reed and Brady Morningstar.

Mingle with Mario Chalmers, members of the ’08 title team, bid on the silent and live auction of basketball items, and enjoy hors d’oeuvres with donations going to the Mario V. Chalmers Foundation created to support community based programs that encourage the positive development of youth through sports and education, and fund initiatives for breast cancer research and treatment.

Firestix tryouts: The 14U Lawrence Firestix softball team will be holding tryouts on Aug. 5 from 6-8:30 p.m. and Aug. 7 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Broken Arrow Field No. 1. Players are welcome to come to one or both tryouts. The team is primarily looking for eighth grade girls with 1996 or 1997 birthdays looking to play ‘B’ division ball with hopes of moving up to ‘A’ in the summer.
