Flood warning expires for Douglas County

A flood warning for Douglas County has expired.

The warning was issued after extensive rainfall, which the National Weather Service said could cause flooding in areas of Douglas County mainly south of Lawrence.

Kansas Highway Patrol has reopened Highway 56 near the Douglas and Johnson County line after closing the road due to high water, according to emergency management officials.

Several county roads east of Baldwin City are closed as well as the 1600 block of N. 200 Rd. and the 100 block of E. 2300 Rd.

Be careful while driving, and never attempt to cross a water-covered roadway.
