A 26-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Saturday afternoon after police believed he pointed a handgun at a motorist.

At 1:17 p.m., Lawrence Police Department responded to a weapons disturbance call at 31st Street and Nieder Road in south Lawrence. Two people in the vehicle reported that a man in a black Chevy Caprice station wagon pointed a handgun at them after he cut them off in traffic, according to Sgt. Craig Shanks.

The police department located a man matching that description at 26th Street and Kasold Drive. The police recovered the handgun that they believed was used in the incident along with marijuana and cocaine.

The man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, defacing identification marks on a handgun, criminal possession of a firearm, and possession of marijuana and cocaine. He is being booked into Douglas County Jail.

I'm not so sure heat has that much to do with it. Seems to be a lot of attitude on the streets that needs adjusting.

Could be the heat, but cocaine doesn't help the situation either I imagine.
