July 16, 2010

— Former Kansas University point guard Jacque Vaughn is working as an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs’ summer league squad.

Vaughn, who spent the final three of his 12 NBA seasons with the Spurs, retired after 2008-09 campaign. The San Antonio Express News says Vaughn “has long been held in high esteem by coach Gregg Popovich, who has called Vaughn prime coaching material.”

Spurs’ summer head coach is Mike Budenholzer. Assistants are Vaughn, Bret Brielmaier, Kevin Hanson, Darko Rajakovic and Sharon Drucker.

Glad to see Jacque coaching after a great career at KU and lengthy NBA career. He'll be great.

I thought you had to be in the movies to be governor of California.
