Crack-sealing set for Saturday along parts of Sixth Street, Bob Billings Parkway

July 16, 2010

Work to fill cracks along portions of Sixth Street and Bob Billings Parkway could lead to minor delays Saturday for drivers, a city spokeswoman said.

Beginning at 4:30 a.m., a city-hired contractor is scheduled to start filling cracks in the eastbound lanes of Sixth, from Folks Road to Monterey Way, said Megan Gilliland, the city’s communications manager.

Once finished, crews then will move over to Bob Billings Parkway, where cracks will be filled on lanes in both directions between Inverness and Crossgate drives.

“Single lane closures will be used during the maintenance,” Gilliland said. “Minor delays may be expected.”

Weather permitting, she said, the work should be completed Saturday.

Talk about mis-reading a story caption; I read this as "Crack Selling" for Saturday. As sign of the times I guess.

I think it means they are sealing Bob's crack, right? (remind me never to have a street named after me.)

This tar all over the place is dangerous. If you ride a bike, moped, or motorcycle you know what I'm talking about. It gets slick when it's wet and your wheels slide on it when it's hot. This junk get on our cars and makes them harder to stop in the wet as well, It comes out of the cracks and produces these wonderful tar snakes that are all over the place. How about fixing things right in this town and stop talking about buying all kinds of urban candy. We just want our basic needs met at this point. Can you imagine what $18,000,000 would do for our infrastructure. Yes, I'm speaking of the library expansion.

Remember, Public Transportation is a common target of terrorists world wide. You should support public transportation. Every time you disrespect the T, the terrorists WIN. Why do you hate America?
