Londerholm withdraws from Republican race for U.S. Senate

? Former Kansas Attorney General Robert Londerholm is dropping out of the Republican race for U.S. Senate.

The Overland Park attorney said Tuesday he achieved his goal of making other Republican candidates aware of the threat posed by the growing federal debt.

Congressmen Todd Tiahrt and Jerry Moran and Mound City accountant Tom Little remain in the race for the GOP nomination to succeed Sen. Sam Brownback.

The secretary of state’s office said Londerholm’s withdrawal comes too late to remove his name from the Aug. 3 primary ballot.

Londerholm served as attorney general from 1965 to 1969. He’s also a former chairman of the Kansas Racing Commission.
