Cactus flirt with no-hitter in victory

— For the second day in a row, a Lawrence Cactus pitcher carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning. Tanner Kilmer pitched 6 1⁄3 innings without giving up a hit, and the Cactus defeated Building Champions of Overland Park, 8-4, on Saturday in the Kansas State Showcase.

Kilmer pitched a shutout until giving up four runs in the seventh inning.

Ryan Scott had two hits, two RBIs and three stolen bases for the Cactus. Tim Lewis added two hits, three RBIs and a stolen base.

Cody Oller and Adam Petz both went 2-for-3.

The Cactus are now 16-5 and face the Andrew County Kings at 11:15 a.m. today in Manhattan.
