Kansas City, Kan. ? A Kansas City, Kan., man has been convicted of trying to kidnap a woman before her father intervened.

The Kansas City Star reports that a federal jury found 29-year-old Jason Frazier guilty Friday of kidnapping and firearms charges for the October incident.

The U.S. Attorney’s office said Frazier approached father and daughter, Samuel and Katrina Schwer, who were driving separate cars when they stopped to ask for directions to a downtown Kansas City hotel.

Frazier was accused of offering to help them find the hotel, but instead led them into Kansas City, Kan., and tried to kidnap the woman. Prosecutors said the woman’s father thwarted the kidnapping when he backed his car into Frazier’s vehicle.
